This list of Wellington Fenced Playgrounds is organised by alphabetically by local council, and then alphabetically by suburb. Where possible, I have included comments from the parent or parents who nominated the playground.

I have no photos of these Wellington playgrounds! If you have any photos of the playgrounds mentioned below and would be happy for me to use them, please send them to me. And please contact me if I have missed a Fenced Playground, or if you feel that the information below is inaccurate in any way.

Please note that this list only includes playgrounds that are free, and open to the public. It does not include playgrounds provided to customers of cafes or restaurants.

Whitby playground

Date added: 22/01/17

Parent’s comment: “There’s one in Whitby believe it or not and it’s awesome – you can sit and have a coffee and let the small humans run mad.”

Wellington City Council

Jeypore Street Playground

Jeypore Street, Berhampore

Date added: 23/01/17

Parent’s comment: “The Jeypore Street Playground in Berhampore is fully fenced. It is small, with other two swings and a slide, but great for small people who don’t need much space. The community has taken ownership of it, and have installed a chalkboard with chalk, as well as donating a trike, labelled as belonging to the playground.”

Date added: 22/01/17

Parent’s comment: “There is also a great fully fenced park by the Plunket rooms off Alexandra Road in Hataitai.”

“It’s worth noting that Shorland park also has a wheelchair swing.”
